The Blues Roosters present the music of the British Blues Revival with the kind of earnestness and devotion first heard in clubs like the Crawdaddy, Ricky-Tick, and Marquee, in the 1960's. As suburban hipsters became spellbound by their stateside blues heroes, renewed passion for the Delta sound swept from the Thames to the Mersey. This momentum was spurred by the bitingly raw and suggestive nature of the blues, an alluring alternative to the squeaky-clean image of pop. The exuberance and angst injected into the blues during this era are faithfully recaptured by the Blues Roosters' five members. Founder Bobby Arias pours out vocal conviction reminiscent of early John Mayall and Eric Burden. Dave Park conjures glistening slide guitar tones and puts on a deft display of licks on electric rockabilly. Meanwhile, rhythm-section heavyweights Chuch and Ray lay down infectious jump-blues grooves, yanking fans to their feet from the OC to the Valley. |
